Church in Mission (Thursday) – Day 9

In the LAST day of class for Church in Mission, by far the most interesting thing was hearing about the Azusa Street Revival. Pentecostalism is growing in leaps and bounds in the continents of Asia, Africa, and in parts of Latin America. From our reading, I was most intrigued by Pentecostalism. Aside from the sketchy Prosperity Gospel, there really is no way to explain the miraculous movement of Pentecostalism except through the supernatural way of the Spirit. For those who don’t the possibilities, one only needs to read Donald Miller’s “Global Pentecostalism” and read about all the unreal ways Christianity is spreading through healing, miracles, and other supernatural events. I want to be able to tap into the “credit card” of the Holy Spirit like this.
