In today’s class (Thursday), it was eye-opening to hear about how some of the church practices evolved throughout the 2nd to 4th centuries. For instance, baptism went from anyone who had faith could be baptized to adopting a set of rules and regulations as to who could get baptized around 200 (At one point, they had a three year commitment before they could get baptized!). Up until 3rd century as well, the Agape Feast was highly participatory. If you wanted to go, you had to bring a song or a prayer (Imagine asking our Lutheran friends to do that).
This picture was drawn by one of my students at CLC. Unreal thought.
