For Wednesday’s class, by far the most insightful thing was that there was no single pattern of virtually anything in the Early Church. Time and time again, people present absolute truths on church organization and worship patterns. Usually, these people will cite the Early Church as their reason for doing so. However, what this class session pointed out is that there was no single pattern from which to draw from. Another insight was gleaned from the Lord’s Supper and “Breaking of Bread” difference. I did not know or realize the difference. It was interesting to hear about how the Early Church attempted to bring a “What Would Jesus Say” perspective to Old Testament study.
